C2C Cycle Route: The Coast to Coast Bike Ride guidebook
This guide to the C2C, also known as the Sea to Sea, is for everyone taking up the long distance challenge from Whitehaven or Workington to Tynemouth or Sunderland. Whether in a single day or a whole week, this guidebook is full of advice on planning and preparation for everyone, from first-time cycle tourers to trail-hardened speed fiends.

Since its inception in the 1990s as Sustrans' first long-distance route, the Coast to Coast (C2C) cycle route has become the UK's favourite cycle challenge. Crossing the country from Whitehaven or Workington to Tynemouth or Sunderland the route takes you over 140 miles through the English Lake District, the Eden Valley and the Pennines mostly on cycle paths, forest tracks and minor roads with off-road options and taster day rides described.
The route is described in 5 stages from west to east with variant first and final legs, from Workington and to Sunderland. The route follows National Cycle Routes 7, 14 and 71.
